Could you tell us how you came to join the company?

During my graduate research and internships, I developed a strong interest in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and fintech. At a career fair, I came across this company, which was focusing on HPC specifically within the fintech domain. At the time, I was also considering pursuing a Ph.D., but I realized this was a place where I could make a career out of HPC, so I decided to apply.

I remember being certain during the interview that this was the ideal workplace for me. First, the CEO and I connected deeply on the topic of HPC. I was also drawn to the company's culture of openly exchanging ideas and collaborating to tackle challenges and achieve the vision and goals of the financial industry.

What aspects of the company did you find appealing after joining?

It's an environment where members can fully commit to their mission. For critical decisions, we conduct a thorough Proof of Concept (POC). By ensuring high-quality information sharing and discussion through careful research, our engineers are able to level up. This allows us to release higher quality products, which in turn builds trust with our clients and gives us a sense of purpose—creating a positive cycle.

At the same time, there's a strong emphasis on efficiency. The company doesn't hesitate to invest in technology, and team members proactively suggest tools to improve operational efficiency. Projects are managed to proceed without unreasonable strain and are adjusted according to team resources. As a fintech company with a long history, we pride ourselves on our stable growth in the global market. Yet, as a small, elite team, we also maintain a flexible structure that allows us to move nimbly.

As CTO, what do you value most in your work?

Like the company, I believe that high motivation and a sophisticated work environment are the driving forces, and I work on team building every day. The tech industry, in general, still has some old-fashioned traits, such as an overemphasis on an overreliance on willpower, endless meetings, constant rework, and restrictive interpersonal relationships. These can be factors that lead to burnout among talented engineers.

In that respect, we emphasize efficiency and work-life balance while providing a highly flexible system that allows engineers to be creative. Thanks to this environment, every member of our team can truly enjoy and immerse themselves in the possibilities of technology. For the younger generation especially, this sense of inquiry and an easy-to-work-in environment are crucial. As CTO, I want to continue maintaining a comfortable and stimulating workplace so they can fully experience the excitement of the fintech domain our company offers.

What specific management style do you practice, Kian Zhong?

I've created a system where engineers can work proactively while maintaining open communication. Specifically, there are three things we do after an engineer joins. First, we set KPIs together right from the probation period. Based on their current skills, we have them propose what they can contribute to our work and set tasks on a monthly basis.

Next, after the probation period, they propose project approaches while conducting POCs. Of course, I provide feedback, but my goal is to enable engineers to act with a high degree of freedom. Sometimes, junior engineers propose new technologies or ideas, which often becomes a learning opportunity for me and our tech lead.

And third is the quarterly review. I conduct one-on-one meetings with each engineer to discuss their understanding of the product and development, and to set goals for the next term. We never neglect this kind of comprehensive review.

Finally, what kind of team do you want to build for the future?

In addition to stabilizing existing products like NtSaaS®, we plan to drive further technological innovation by taking on new POCs. In the fintech domain, which is expected to continue its global growth, the challenges our current and future clients face in financial risk management will keep emerging. I look forward to solving these challenges together and brightening the future of the financial industry.

To make that dream a reality, I want to leverage the individual strengths of each team member. Everyone on the team has their own areas of expertise and different values. That's why it is essential to bring together everyone's knowledge and ideas to work toward a common goal. As CTO, I intend to build a team that can deliver the highest performance through a process of trial and error. And of course, within that process, I want to support each individual in achieving their own career goals.
