We are a high-technology company, our work
force is small but high quality. We
entrust
work aside from our core business to
sub-contracted
firms, thus maintaining a remarkably
efficient
level of productivity. Despite our
company's
nature as a vendor of financial and
numerical
simulation software, whose source code
is
written by our experts, our corporate
culture
is more closer to that of a consulting
firm
or design office in the financial field.

Hideyuki TORII, President
Born, November 1962.
1986 Graduated from the Department of Information
Science, the University of Tokyo. Soon after
graduation, entered Sumitomo Bank. His 12-year
career encompassed fixed-income trading,
middle office management, macro economic
researcher, Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets
(NY) and Goldman Sachs & Co. N.Y. Fixed
Income Division.
July 1998 Established Numerical
Technologies.
Specialty: In disguise as an ex-bank employee, but in his true light as a computer
scientist and programming expert. He has been working with C/C++ languages
since their outset, but is not a computer nerd (he says so). He is one
of the generation who start to design hardware with i8080 / 6502 / Z80
/ PDP-11, who learnt about software from the source code of 4.1 BSD-UNIX
on VAX-11/780, and networks from uucp, as well as learning OO-programming
from SmallTalk80 and Simula. A rare breed experienced programming expert
in more than 10 languages, he designs financial instruments as well as
hardware circuits. Those he admires include Steve Wozniak and Dennis M. Ritchie.
Yoshikazu TSUTSUI, Senior Executive Director
Born, July 1963.
1986 Graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tokyo.
Soon after graduation, entered Sumitomo Bank. During his career
with Sumitomo Bank, engaged in portfolio management at the investment
securities section.
1994 Passed the CPA. Entered Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Engaged in designing and developing a corporate credit rating system and in designing CreditBrowser® and assisting its introduction to the marketplace.
1999 Joined Numerical Technologies.
Specialty: A financial professional and accountant, bright and breezy as well as
enlightened on the business practices. Provides sophisticated customer
support. Good at rationalizing things. Strong in financial analysis as
well as in inventory management and looking behind the accounting veil.
Keeping sound in both fiscal stance and physical state, a health and fitness
nut with piles of health equipment. Likes gadgets, and is trying to build
himself a personal computer. His current computer is the fastest desktop
PC in the lab, primarily used for its word-processing.
Masahiko HIRANO, Managing Director
Born, February 1962.
1984 Graduated from the Department of Business Management, Faculty
of Commercial Science, Yokohama City University. Entered Fuji
Xerox.
1987 Entered Digital Equipment Corp., Japan (now Hewlett Packard).
, Engaged in sales to major financial institutions with the Integrated
Financial System Sales Department.
1998 Joined Numerical Technologies.
Specialty: A man of many faces, member of the Kodaira six-a-side soccer team, JFA
authorized referee(class 4), website builder, system industry specialist,
and super go-getter. It was him who sold the DEC's top grade UNIX server,
AS8400, for the first time in Japan. One of the offspring from the former
DEC (acquired by Compaq in 1998, and now Hewlett Packard), a company now
recognized as a spawning ground for talented people in the systems industry,
he is something to be reckoned with. However, despite his work history
in the computing field, he is surprisingly slow operating his PC.
